Everyone has noticed the new Library above Canada Water Plaza. What many have not noticed yet is the fine cultural space that forms a major part of the ground floor. The Canada Water Culture Space is a 150 seater theatre designed to be used in the evening, during the day and at weekends alongside the library, cafe and other facilities in the building.
Each week, the Space is filled with great things from across the arts, debates, spoken word and other delights. The team who run the Space are supported by The Albany, Deptford so they have access to a great range of talent from across the UK. They have a reputation for visionary programming that reflects the cultural diversity and creative mix of the area. Many of the performances are developed and imagined by people from Southwark and South East London.
In Curious Company
The next production is a case in point. In Curious Company is a promenade performance featuring dance, spoken word and music. Arts Odyssey presents a community company of youth and adult dancers who have collaborated for twelve weeks to explore their own curiosities through dance, creative writing, spoken word and sound. They invite the audience to be curious, discover and engage with the performers in and around Canada Water Library and Canada Water Culture Space.
