She has a Diploma in Evidence-Based Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (Dip. CBH) from the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy and a Diploma in Stress Management and Resilience-Building (Dip. SMRB). She is also a member of the General Hypnotherapy Register, the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council and the Register for Evidence-Based Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy.
Gurvinder offers a free 20-minute telephone consultation to all potential clients to answer any questions they may have about hypnotherapy and to learn more about their needs, in order to devise suitable and effective treatment plans. She will carry out an initial assessment of the client’s condition on the phone and once the client understands what the treatment entails and how it can help, a face-to-face consultation can be arranged. During this consultation, more information will be required from the client and a treatment plan will then be designed and tailored specifically to meet their needs.
The treatment offered is a combination of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and hypnotherapy, as a strong evidence-base exists for the use of both treatments simultaneously. In fact, a research study by Kirsch et al. (1999) which compared the effectiveness of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and hypnotherapy found that clients who were treated with cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy (which is a combination of the two therapies) showed a greater improvement than 70% of clients who just received CBT.
